Ian Mayes is our Group CEO, and is responsible for the smooth running of AirWeGo Group VA.
He was formerly our Fleet Manager, from AWG's birth until June 2004, when he was promoted to fill the vacant post of CEO. He is 100% AirWeGo and spends many hours of his time ensuring that AirWeGo gets the best that FS freeware can offer. Ian started on the BBC Electron back in 1982 and started flying with FS4 progressing up to the present day version.
He has never been a 'spotter' but he has always had a love of commercial aircraft from about the age of 8 when he started visiting Speke Airport to look at aircraft like the Vickers Viscount and Vanguard. Also used to see many DC3's, 4's etc. His first flight in a commercial aircraft was in a Vickers Viking of from Manston in Kent to the Swiss Alps!
In real life he was a Police Officer for over 18yrs and from 1967 to 1980 was in the RAF. He now works in Terminal 3 at Manchester Airport and never tires of seeing the varied aircraft that use the airport.
