The Airwego Group is a virtual airline.
A Virtual Airline is an organisation run by a group of like minded individuals who wish to share their enthusiasm for aviation by offering aircraft in a unique livery that can be flown on specially created schedules within a PC based Flight Simulator program. In essence a Virtual Airline replicates the operations of a real world airline such as British Midland (BMI), easyJet or Monarch.
Virtual Airlines can operate as various levels of sophistication. Some claim to be ultra realistic and operate to strict procedures while others focus on a more relaxed atmosphere. The Airwego Group falls into this second category but does offer the option of enhancing your Virtual Airline experience by making available tools which allow you simulate more accurately the procedures of a real cockpit. An example of this would be our Flightplans or Aircraft Datasheets.
Two divisions comprise the Airwego Group. Each offering a unique way of flying. Our two divisions are - Airwego and Vertigo.
Airwego can be considered to be the mainstream operation of the Group. It operates mainly from Gatwick, Humberside and Manchester . A fleet varying from Embraer 120 up to the 'Queen of the skies' Boeing B747-400 can be seen flying in the striking blue and white livery. Flights within the UK, Europe and a small global schedule feature within the timetable. Pilots flying with Airwego will be assigned flights every two weeks.
Vertigo is the Group division which flies Helicopters. With a primary base at Humberside Vertigo pilots will trot the globe fulfilling the contracts of Vertigo. It may well be a a flight to an offshore facility in the Gulf of Mexico or an emergency medical flight above the Artic Circle. No matter where it is Vertigo will either be flying there, have flown there or has plans to do so.
No matter which division of the Airwego Group you opt to fly for well can guarantee that no matter what your experience level you will enjoy being a pilot. If you are a complete "newbie" with less than an hour of simulator cockpit time logged we can help you through every stage from planning your flight to reporting it. If you have several hundred hours logged we can offer you a relaxed and fun atmosphere in which to improve your skills or take that next step into passing on your experiences.
The Group Management have 8000+ virtual flight hours logged and with a Group total over 27,000hrs we can certainly guarantee we intend to be around for a long time!
The Virtual Airline is geared up toward flights using Microsft's Flight Simulator 9 (FS2004). FSX is also used. However, not owning a copy of that particular program does not bar you from joining. Computer pilots with any flightsim program capable of flying to our destinations are welcome to join in the fun.
